Relieving Stress Through Running

Put down the junk food and the large soda! Are you guilty of being a stress eater? We all do it at times but there is a better alternative to get rid of your stress. Running has been proven to clear your mind and let all of your worries disappear. While running, your mind is directed to paying close attention to every step and breathe you take. Discover three ways running relieves your stress below!

  1. Running and other physical activities allow your body to produce endorphins. These are chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers. By producing endorphins this will improve your body’s ability to sleep in which turns into reduced stress.
  2. The rhythm of your pace will relax your mind. Clearing the mind is beneficial and the idea of continuing with a repetitive motion of putting one foot in front of the other is soothing and allows you to zone out.
  3. It gives you the feeling of leaving your problems behind – even if it is temporarily! Who doesn’t want that? Treat yourself and get some fresh air on your run.
