How To Make Your New Year’s Resolution Stick

The New Year is here! This is the time of year that everyone creates resolutions to stick to for the year – including shaping up! As the year goes by, people grow sick of the new lifestyle they chose or lose the thrill of it that they once had in the first week of the year. Don’t let this happen to you! We’ve created a list of the top three precautions you can take to stay on track with your New Year’s resolutions!

  1. Create realistic goals – don’t overdo yourself and set yourself up for failure. Create reachable goals for yourself that you can attain!
  2. Reward yourself – Many of those who create a New Year’s resolution that revolves around fitness forget that it is okay to treat yourself! There is no rule that you have to give up your favorite food – completely. Take the time to enjoy the things you love, it won’t hurt!
  3. Keep trying – If you don’t meet your goal the first time, don’t give up! You have plenty of time to train and practice. You can never lose if you continue to try again! Starting over may give you a fresh feel. It’s never too late!
  4. Make a group – Studies show that people are more likely to participate in an activity when there are others participating as well. Running alone may not be as fun as running with a group. Feel motivated by those around you and create a routine with your new found friends!
