The Cooper River Bridge Run, as awesome as it is, could not be a reality without the many, many volunteers who give their time, energy, and expertise to the event. Volunteer assistance is required at various times during the year, and certainly the week of the actual event. From assembling 40,000 plus race packets, to distributing water to participants along the race route, to helping with the recycling effort both at the Start in Mt. Pleasant and at the Finish Festival in downtown Charleston, the volunteers prove to be invaluable. Volunteers also play a major role in putting on the tremendous Kids Run (September 24, 2024). The approximate 4,000 volunteers are recruited from various schools, churches, and service organizations. The designated charities from the Bridge Run Charity Connection also provide many of the volunteers needed to help in all areas. Many volunteers return year after year to assist in any way possible. The fun and excitement of the Cooper River Bridge Run is definitely not limited to just the participants, but also to the thousands of generous volunteers who work so hard to make this a wonderful community event.
